When we talk about academic excellence in Oshodi today, one name stands tall – Adams Adebola.
God endowed Mr. Adams Adebola with rare genius, but he refused to keep it to himself. He believed that a society becomes great not when one person is great, but when many people are great. This philosophy drove him to open his well of knowledge to thousands of youths in Oshodi.
He did not start alone. Immediately after secondary school, he gathered brilliant young minds from different backgrounds and trained them to become teachers. The name ADAMS became a gold standard that attracted serious students. As his student-teachers gained admission into higher institutions, other well-trained students replaced them, keeping the legacy alive. Even while studying at Obafemi Awolowo University, the influence of Adams Tutorial remained powerful.
His products spread from Oshodi to universities across Nigeria, and everywhere they went, Oshodi was celebrated. This is how the saying emerged: “Adams the Great, Oshodi the Great.”
After graduation, despite receiving many lucrative job offers, Mr. Adams chose to remain in the classroom, committed to imparting knowledge. What started as passion has today become a great institution that creates employment for thousands of young graduates.
Today, thousands of students at home and abroad who drank from Adams’ well of knowledge have become great.
He is also a major brain behind The Articulates School Bag Campaign with the slogan “Don’t drop your school bag, don’t be a dropout” – a campaign against school dropout.
