Further to African Refinery Port Harcourt Limited (ARPHL)’s contract award to the Italian company, Tecnimont SPA, for the development of the FEED for its 100,000 Barrel Per Stream day (bpsd) deep conversion refinery, the company has signed a process licensing agreement with Honeywell UOP, a world-renowned process licensor.

Honeywell UOP, formerly known as UOP LLC, is an American multinational company that specialises in developing and delivering technology to the petroleum refining, gas processing, petrochemical production and major manufacturing industries.

Honeywell UOP, under the agreement, will deploy the technology needed for refining crude oil into petrol, diesel, kerosene, Jet-fuel, LPG and other products.

The project, which will be collocated within the NNPC Port Harcourt Refinery in Eleme, Port Harcourt, is a joint venture partnership with NNPC Limited. It advances NNPC and the Nigerian government’s aim to reduce dependency on imported refined products by processing the country’s crude oil locally for the domestic market.

ARPHL in the statement issued by its Managing Director, Omotayo Adebajo, said with the appointment of UOP, the project would proceed to engineering design implementation and selection of EPC contractor.

He also assured that with the adoption of UOP’s patented process technology the African Refinery Port Harcourt JV with NNPC is guaranteed to be one of the most technologically-advanced refineries in sub-Saharan Africa.
