The Association of Yorubas in Diaspora, South Africa( AYIDSA) has dissatisfied with the farcical and disgraceful incident that played out on Wednesday, 18th of January, 2023 which is the invasion of the premises of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in Illovo Johannesburg by the joint team of City Power officials and the Johannesburg Metro Police officers.

  As a prominent Yoruba association in South Africa, the Association of Yorubas in Diaspora, South Africa (AYIDSA), unequivocally condemns this outrageous invasion as the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the government of South Africa are both signatories to Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
 In light of this, we call on the government of the Republic of South Africa to look into this unfortunate incident and subsequently take necessary steps that will ensure that such an act never happens again.
 We commend the relentless effort of the Nigeria Consul General at protecting the interest of all Nigerians in South Africa and how he has been handling the matter. We also want to appeal to all Nigerians in South Africa to remain calm and continue to be law-abiding citizens as the unfortunate incident is being diplomatically looked into.
