Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement in a statement released on behalf of the Federal Government. He urged Nigerians to reflect on the significance of the day and the progress the nation has made in strengthening democratic institutions.

“Democracy Day is a time to honour the sacrifices of our heroes past and to reaffirm our collective commitment to democratic principles, good governance, and national unity,” the statement read.
