The newly appointed Commissioner for Insurance/Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Olusegun Ayo has said the contribution of insurance sector is crucial to the realisation of $1 trillion dollar economy envisaged by Federal Government by 2026.

To this end, he tasked employees of the Commission to be committed to the task of realizing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth by the current administration.

He stated this on Friday, May 3, when he arrived at the NAICOM’s Headquarters in Abuja for the assumption of duty as he was welcomed by Senior Members of Staff.

He expressed gratitude to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for considering him and appointed Deputy Commissioners worthy of serving the nation.

He solicited the cooperation of NAICOM employees in taking the insurance sector to the next height.

” I will consider this a very rear privilege and honor to have been appointed the Commissioner for insurance, the deputy commissioners alike by the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I don’t take this for granted. I consider this a very rare opportunity to make my own contribution to our nation Nigeria. This is a trust that is heavy .

“We are keenly aware of the responsibilities that rest on our shoulders as leaders of this prestigious organization”.

“When you look at the desire and ambition of this administration as relates to his renewed hope agenda, I am sure many of us are aware that Mr president has declared to achieve a $1 trillion dollar economy by 2026, a significant aspect of this is supposed to come from the insurance sector.

“We are an integral part of that financial service sector that must make that happen and that puts on us a very heavy burden to deliver,” Olusegun said.

He promised to lead the commission responsibly with integrity and transparency.

“As we embark on this journey, we are sure that we will listen ,learn and lead with integrity, transparency and inclusivity.

“We request for your feedback and welcome practicable ideas and suggestions on how we can move and improve and make NAICOM a beacon of excellence in insurance regulation and a source of pride to our nation Nigeria”, he affirmed.
