The former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko has said that he will consult with his stakeholders and supporters on his next line of action regarding the possibility of rejoining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Mimiko stated this on yesterday after some PDP governors visited him at his residence in Ondo state.
“They have come, as usual. They have tried to convince us why we should come and join forces with them in PDP for the efforts they are making in repositioning politics in Nigeria.
“We have listened to them; we will go back to our stakeholders’ meeting because it is them that will decide before we jointly take our decision on it,” he said.
The governors who visited Mimiko were Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto.
Speaking with journalists after the closed-door meeting, the Chairman of the PDP governors’ forum, Aminu Tambuwal said they were in the state to consult with Mimiko over their plans to win him back into the PDP and embark on an agenda he termed ‘The Rescue Nigeria Project’.
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on his part called on everyone to join hands and rescue the country.
“We need everybody now in Nigeria to work together to rescue Nigeria and people like these cannot be sleeping in their house and say it’s not their business, it is their business.
“This is the reason why we came here today, yes we have been having meetings. We have come o rescue Nigeria and we have come first to Ondo State.
“I hope as we leave you all will give him the support to come and join us, Wike added.
Other politicians at the meeting included the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi; former member of House of Reps., Joseph Akinlaja; Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele; former governorship aspirant Banji Okunomo, former Chief Judge of Ondo State, Olasehinde Kumuyi; Chief of Staff to Mimiko, Kola Ademujimi, and others.
