The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the accreditation of 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the country ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The exercise, which is being carried out nationwide, is aimed at ensuring that all CBT centres meet the board’s minimum technical, security and operational standards before they are approved to host the examination.

JAMB said the accreditation process involves a thorough assessment of facilities, including computer systems, internet connectivity, power supply, surveillance infrastructure and adherence to examination guidelines. Centres that fail to meet the required standards will be disqualified or given timelines to address identified shortcomings.

According to the board, the early commencement of the accreditation exercise is part of efforts to enhance the credibility, efficiency and integrity of the UTME, while also reducing incidents of examination malpractice.

JAMB added that only fully accredited centres would be listed and deployed for the conduct of the 2026 UTME, urging CBT operators to cooperate fully with accreditation teams.

The board reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a transparent and hitch-free examination process for candidates nationwide.
