AIICO Insurance Plc has celebrated eight long-serving employees who retired after decades of dedicated service, honouring their contributions at a colourful ceremony that blended gratitude, nostalgia, and pride.
The event, held in Lagos, drew family members, friends, and colleagues across generations in a heartfelt evening of music, laughter, and tributes — reflecting AIICO’s enduring culture of excellence, stability, and appreciation for human capital.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Babatunde Fajemirokun, described the retirees as “pillars of resilience and professionalism,” whose careers have shaped the company’s growth and reputation.
“Our retirees have each left footprints of impact on people, on teams, and on this company,” Fajemirokun said. “They may be retiring today, but they are certainly not tired. This next chapter is an opportunity to keep shining as ambassadors of AIICO wherever they go.”
He also extended appreciation to the families of the retirees for their years of support, noting that their encouragement made it possible for their loved ones to give their best to the organisation.
The celebration highlighted AIICO’s strong culture of mentorship and continuity, with stories of retirees who began as entry-level staff and rose to leadership positions across regions and departments.
Among those honoured were John Ebowe, who grew regional revenues from ₦34.5 million to nearly ₦2 billion; Taiwo Onadipe, who combined work with law studies to become a barrister and senior legal officer; Timothy Momoh, the first AIICO candidate to qualify as a Chartered Insurance Professional; and Johnson Ehindero, who pioneered the company’s Independent Power Project, cutting energy costs by 70 per cent.
Others included Lanre Oladeinde, Adeleke Adesina, Funmi Abidogun, and Sunday Obinga — each celebrated for their loyalty, professionalism, and mentorship.
Chief Human Resources Officer, Mr. Oluyemi Obakin, said the event symbolised AIICO’s appreciation for loyalty and hard work, describing it as “a moment of gratitude for those who built the foundation we stand on today.”
He added: “Tonight is about honouring years of dedication and sacrifice. It’s our way of saying thank you — not just in words, but by creating moments that our retirees and their families will cherish.”
AIICO presented parting gifts to the retirees as tokens of appreciation, reinforcing the company’s commitment to rewarding service and building an inclusive, multi-generational workplace.
Founded in 1963, AIICO Insurance Plc remains one of Nigeria’s leading composite insurers, offering life and general insurance, health insurance, and investment management services. The company continues to position itself as a place where careers are nurtured, values are sustained, and employees are celebrated — both in service and in retirement.
