Dangote Petroleum Refinery has introduced a nationwide hotline for consumers to report MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations selling petrol above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.

The refinery said the toll-free line 0800 123 5264  allows members of the public to report pricing violations at MRS outlets across the country. MRS is one of the distributors retailing petrol supplied by the Dangote refinery.

The move follows the refinery’s recent rollout of nationwide petrol sales at ₦739 per litre, a price Dangote says is intended to curb high fuel costs and improve price stability, particularly during the festive period.

In a statement, the refinery urged consumers to avoid purchasing petrol above the approved price when locally refined fuel is available at a lower cost.

“We encourage Nigerians to report any MRS station selling PMS above ₦739 per litre,” the company said, adding that the initiative was aimed at improving transparency and protecting consumers.

Dangote Refinery said it has the capacity to sustain supply, citing a daily production capability of about 50 million litres, and warned against attempts to exploit the price reduction by creating artificial scarcity.

The company also called on regulatory agencies to monitor compliance and take action against marketers found violating pricing guidelines.

Industry analysts say the refinery’s intervention could help reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel and ease pressure on foreign exchange demand, though they note that effective enforcement will be key to ensuring price compliance at retail outlets.

Consumers were advised to report suspected violations and resist buying petrol above the approved price.
