The Appeal Court sitting in Calabar has affirmed the victory of Sen. Sandy Onor (PDP) as lawmaker representing Cross River Central Senatorial District of Cross River State in the National Assembly.

The court upheld the decision of the election petition tribunal in Calabar which had declared Onor as duly elected against Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba of the APC in the Feb. 23rd National Assembly elections.

Reacting to the ruling of the Appeal Court , Ndoma – Egba in a statement he personally signed, copy of which was made available to National Monitor said he accept the verdict.

“Though we are yet to receive the full judgment of the Court of Appeal and its reasoning, we accept their verdict and reaffirm our faith in the judiciary and the Nigerian Project. We, however, look forward to a time when elections in Nigeria will be conducted and managed with utmost transparency and credibility such that electoral litigations will become unnecessary.

” At this point, we use this opportunity to congratulate Prof. Sandy Onor and wish him the very best as he represents the good people of Central Senatorial District of Cross River State. We assure him of our goodwill and support, going forward.

” We reserve special gratitude to our supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress, not only in the Central Senatorial District but Cross River State as a whole. Your prayers and continuous encouragement mean a lot to us. We urge you not to be disappointed but remain optimistic and unshakeable in the Nigerian Project and its prospects under President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership”.
