AIICO Insurance Plc has expanded its investment in employee development and workplace infrastructure with the unveiling of a new Learning and Conference Centre at its head office in Victoria Island, Lagos, designed to support training, professional development and corporate engagements.
The newly transformed facility, equipped with modern multimedia and technology-enabled infrastructure, will provide dedicated spaces for training programmes, workshops, seminars, conferences, strategy sessions and other professional gatherings.
Beyond its internal use, AIICO said the centre would be available to businesses, professional bodies and other organisations seeking conference and event facilities in Victoria Island, creating an additional commercial and knowledge-sharing platform within one of Lagos’ major business districts.
The Chief Human Resources Officer of AIICO Insurance Plc, Oluyemi Obakin, said the investment was driven by the need to provide an environment that supports continuous learning, collaboration and employee development.
“Learning is most effective when people have the right environment to engage, exchange ideas and apply knowledge,” Obakin said.
He said the facility would provide greater flexibility in delivering learning and development programmes while creating an environment that encourages interaction, knowledge sharing and collaborative thinking.
According to him, the centre represents more than an investment in physical infrastructure, as it is intended to influence how employees interact, learn and develop professionally.
The Chief Financial Officer of AIICO Insurance Plc, Bisola Elias, said the investment also had operational value for the company by reducing reliance on external venues for some training programmes, strategy sessions and corporate engagements.
“The Centre is a strategic investment in infrastructure that serves both our people and our business,” Elias said.
She explained that organisations often commit substantial resources to external venues when organising training, workshops, strategy sessions and other corporate events, adding that an in-house facility would give AIICO greater flexibility while retaining more value within the organisation.
Elias said opening the centre to external users would also allow other businesses, professional organisations and institutions to access a modern venue for conferences, exhibitions, seminars, symposiums and training programmes.
The facility’s location in Victoria Island is expected to make it accessible to businesses and professionals operating within the commercial district and other parts of Lagos.
Its configuration and multimedia capabilities are designed to accommodate different formats, including executive meetings, strategy sessions, conferences, exhibitions, seminars and hybrid engagements requiring audiovisual support.
The investment comes as organisations increasingly place greater emphasis on employee learning and continuous professional development as part of efforts to build skills, improve productivity and respond to changing business requirements.
For AIICO, the centre is expected to serve as part of its broader workplace development strategy while also providing infrastructure that can support professional interaction beyond the company.
AIICO Insurance Plc, established in 1963, provides life and general insurance, health insurance and investment management services to individuals, families and corporate customers.
