AIICO Insurance Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening professionalism and accelerating insurance penetration, bringing together its nationwide agency force for its annual retreat in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The gathering, which attracted financial advisors from across regional offices, served as a strategic platform to reward outstanding performance, deepen engagement, and align the company’s retail distribution network with evolving regulatory and market realities.
Speaking during an executive session, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Babatunde Fajemirokun, described ongoing regulatory reforms as the most significant shift in over two decades, driven by stronger compliance requirements, risk-based capital standards, and increased digitisation.
He said the reforms align with the insurer’s long-standing culture of governance, discipline, and innovation, positioning the company to lead in a more structured and technology-driven operating environment.
According to him, the agency force remains central to the company’s growth strategy and broader efforts to expand insurance access across underserved communities.
“Our agency leaders must continue to execute with professionalism, ownership, and measurable performance as the industry evolves,” he said, adding that the company remains focused on building a resilient and future-ready distribution network.
The highlight of the retreat was the awards ceremony, where top-performing agency leaders were recognised for their production capacity and consistency. Ego Uzochukwu emerged as the overall best-performing agency leader, improving from second place in the previous year. She was followed by Henry Onwuchekwa and Lawson Njoku, who secured second and third positions, respectively.
The awards also honoured the top 10 agency leaders managing high-performing teams that collectively generated billions of naira in gross written premiums, underscoring the scale and effectiveness of the company’s retail channel.
Executive Director and Head of Retail Business Division, Gbenga Ilori, commended the advisors for sustaining strong performance despite macroeconomic pressures.
“In spite of economic headwinds, you have remained resilient and committed to delivering value. Your performance reflects professionalism, confidence in our offerings, and determination to succeed in your respective markets,” he said.
Long-service awards were also presented to recognise dedication and loyalty among agency leaders, with honours spanning 10 to 40 years of service. The recognition, management noted, reflects the strength of the company’s human capital and the critical role of its agency network in driving insurance awareness and inclusion.
Management said the retreat underscores its broader strategy of building a high-performance sales culture anchored on professionalism, innovation, and disciplined execution, while empowering financial advisors who serve as the frontline drivers of insurance penetration nationwide.
Founded in 1963, AIICO Insurance remains one of the country’s leading composite insurers, providing life, general, health insurance, and investment management solutions to individuals and businesses.
