Numerous customers of the First City Monument Bank, (FCMB) who thronged the Joju Junction, Sango-Ota branch of the bank in Ogun State lamented poor service delivery by staffers of the financial institution, yesterday.
The customers who visited the bank to make transactions for the festive period, were disappointed with what they termed the inept attitude of the staff who abandoned customers on a long queue without attending to them.
Some of the customers who spoke with National Monitor regretted banking with the financial institution for their poor service delivery and customer care service.
One of them, Mr. Semiu Babatunde, described the experience as horrible and unpalatable.
Semiu noted that while the banking hall was crowded with hundreds of customers, just two cashiers were at the counter to attend to them, making an ordinary banking transaction that ought to have ended in minutes, to drag into hours of waiting.
He said:”We don’t even know if this is a bank or market place because of the crowd that usually besiege this place. On daily basis we are forced to go through this horrible experience. “Imagine I was here since 8:30am just to make a withdrawal of N50,000, but to my shocking surprise, I didn’t left the banking hall until 12:45pm. As a civil servant I had to pleaded with my boss in office to escape query.
“There are many customers coming to the bank everyday, but there are shortage of staff to attend to customers and when they are under pressure, they will talk to customers anyhow without any regard.
“This is absurd and unpalatable. Unfortunately, the manager of the bank seems to be incapable because he doesn’t help the situation. He has refused to caution his staff despite several complainants.”
Meanwhile, the Corporate Affairs Manager of the bank, Mr. Louis Ibe when contacted told our reporter to send complaint to his email address.
But after seven hours of endless wait, he replied “Just entering Lagos, though on leave, I will need some time to reachout to the BM in Sango, and revert with appropriate response. Regards”
