The Chief Registrar / Executive Officer of, the Institute of Intrapreneurship Management and Professionals (IIHP), Dr. Obanla Adebayo Bankole, has emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship development as a tool for reducing unemployment in Nigeria.
Speaking during the eighth Entrepreneurship Security Conference and induction/ award ceremony of the institute held at Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria, Bankole said: “The biannual conference is where pertinent national issues of entrepreneurship development are discussed. It is a forum for employees’ improvement. Security challenges and economic transformation are also discussed. Prominent and seasoned academic experts, entrepreneurs, and security experts are usually invited to speak on some topical issues…”
The theme was: Intrapreneurship & Security: Challenges, Prospects & Emerging Facts In The Transformational Agenda Of Developing Economies (A Nigerian overview).
He said the platform was created for graduates, young entrepreneurs, and security trainees to exhibit their talents and skills.
The Keynote paper was delivered by the Guest Speaker, Dr. Kuku Olugbenga Adekunle, a Doctoral Fellow of the institute.
Adekunle explained the difference between professional and academic credentials, saying “professional credentials are “warrants of competence” or “warrant of expertise” whereas academic credentials are ‘certificates of knowledge” with a professional designation.
He added that the certifying body “usually gives a warranty that certified workers have the essential knowledge and skills necessary for the safe and appropriate practice of the trade or profession.”
One of the awardees, Alhaji Ajayi Adegboyega Bashir, thanked God for the success of the event. He also expressed gratitude to the management of the institute for the criteria used in choosing the awardees, saying “the award was given on merit and by individual’s contributions to their communities and society at large.”
He urged the government to move closer to the people at the grassroots and have synergy with the institution for the good of society.
