The Federal Government has announced plans to commence the construction of Renewed Hope Cities across four geo-political zones and Renewed Hope Estates in 24 states as part of its broader strategy to address Nigeria’s housing deficit and stimulate economic growth.

The initiative, led by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, is one of the flagship projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and aims to deliver thousands of affordable housing units nationwide.

According to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, the Renewed Hope Cities will be large-scale urban developments featuring a mix of residential, commercial, and social infrastructure, while the Renewed Hope Estates will focus on delivering affordable housing for low- and middle-income earners.

“We are set to roll out the construction phase in selected locations across four zones for the Cities project and in 24 states for the Estates project,” Dangiwa said. “This marks a significant step in our efforts to provide accessible and dignified shelter for Nigerians, in line with the President’s vision.”

Each Renewed Hope City is expected to house at least 1,000 units, while the Estates will feature between 250 to 500 units per location, with flexible financing options through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and public-private partnerships.

The government said the projects will not only provide homes but also create jobs, stimulate local economies, and enhance living conditions, especially for young people, civil servants, and those in the informal sector.

Construction is expected to begin before the end of the third quarter of 2025, with contractors already mobilizing to sites across the pilot states.
