The Redeemed Christian Church of God , (RCCG) Lagos Region 19 last Sunday fetes the needy as it donates rice to about a thousand poor people living within the region .
The church also offered free medical services which included blood pressure test, free eyes tests and donation of about 150 medicated glasses to people who thronged its church premises on ACME Road, Ogba – Ikeja Lagos.
Speaking with the National Monitor on the occasion, the Pastor in charge of the region, Pastor Brown Oyitso said the church is making provision for the needy through provisions of food items , free medical services, rehabilitation of Police stations, provision of home laboratories, provision of drugs for hospitals as part of Christian socio responsibilities.
” Our General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has observed that there will always be poor in our midst and so he has instructed us to always reach out to the poor. We also believe that government can not do it alone and there is the need for everybody to rally round in improving our surroundings. So we construct drainages and provides boreholes in areas where our churches are located.
” Pastor Adeboye has instructed us that there are people that needed to be helped and such people we must help as a church. So our General Overseer has given us specific instruction to go out and reach out to the poor, to go out to the marginalised, to go out and reach out to the less privileges in the society with food , bursary awards and sholarship.
” Beyond giving out of foods, we also provides social ammenities where our churches operate. We have been involved in provisions of drugs and other medical needs for the Gbagada General Hospital and Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja”, Pastor Oyitso said.
Pastor Oyitso who is also the Special Assistant to the Church General Overseer on Missions urged the poor to be hopeful of a good future saying no condition is permanent. ” You can be poor today and you can be rich tomorrow”.
