Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) , Chief Olabode George has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to set a date for Nigerians to seek the face of God as we move forward as a nation.

George who was addressing journalists at his Ikoyi – Lagos office Monday said he sees Nigeria as a God – given nation with unlimited human and material resources that has not been well managed adding that , “we need to go back to God and seek his face as we move forward as a nation”.

His words: ” I see our nation as God – given. We have been mismanaging the country in the last 59 years . To start reconstruction, we need to set a date for prayer. We need to go back to God . Nothing is stronger than prayer. A day of prayer that all Nigerians will be required to fast for a particular purpose. The gap between us instead of closing is getting wider. I believe God will rescue us”.

Looking at the Nigeria’s journey since 1960, George said the country has failed to learn from the mistake of the past.

” We are still using unitary system of government and that is the problem. We have the same military system of government we have in the past with a powerful President who sits down in Abuja and decides how much money will go to each states and local governments

” We copied the American system but we copied it half way. We are now using military system that suits only the military structure.

” Our constitution is defective, flawed . Why should the resources be sent to Abuja and you start redistributing. We should have let every unit go and survive with its own resources. Nigeria is a blessed country and there is no state that God has not endowed with resources”, George said.

On the issue of insecurity in the nation, he said the number of policemen in the country is far below what is required to adequately protect the nation, this is just as he advises that the country must decentralized its Police Force.

George also advises the scrapping of the Independent National Electoral Commission, ( INEC) as presently constituted for Nigeria to have credible election, that the citizens will be proud of.
