Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) has urged public servants who are due for retirement to ensure proper documentation is done before they leave service.
The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, speaking at a one-day Retirement Benefit Documentation Seminar organised for employees who are due to retire with effect from 1st January to 30th June, 2025, they should go back and check their documents to ensure they are complete so there will be no problems. This seminar is held every six months because it is important so civil servants can know what they need to do before leaving to ensure they get their benefits easily.
According to him, the aim is to always provide our esteemed/valued retiring Officers with comprehensive information and assistance that will guide them in
experiencing stress free retirement documentation process.
According to Agoro, the fact remains that our journey as Civil/Public Servants will surely end one day, but the legacies that will be left behind will speak volume even after retirement.
Therefore, as your service to the Lagos State Public Service is winding up, I want to admonish you to spend the little time left to mentor the downline Officers in your various MDAs in a way that will engender positive thinking, growth mindset and effective service delivery, always. 6.
The state Public Service appreciates your selfless service, sacrifices and commitment to our beloved State. Without a doubt, your expertise, experience, and institutional knowledge have shaped our Public Service. As you prepare for retirement, be assured that the Administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State places huge premium on your welfare and well-being the same as those in active service.
Let me also assure you that, Lagos State Government remains committed to ensuring prompt processing and remittance of your retirement benefits as long as your documentations are up to date. 7. Before I wrap-up my address, let me appreciate the Director-General, LASPEC – Mr. Babalola Obilana, Executive Director, Finance and Investment – Mr. Muyiwa Oshin and all members of staff of the Commission for your continued efforts in creating seamless processes of remittance of retirement benefits to retired staff of the State Public Service.
I will like to urge you not to rest on your oars as the reward for hard work is more work. Be assured that the Office of the Head of Service is always available to provide you with necessary support when called upon. 8. On a final note, let me urge participants to take advantage of this seminar by asking questions that will shed more lights on simplifying the processes of remitting retirement benefits without delay, while LASPEC team is here to provide necessary answers to your questions. 9. Thank you for your attention, God bless you all.
For him, the programme has encouraged many people before now, and it will also encourage us, broaden our knowledge and encourage us that we can still enjoy life after retirement though there may not be enough money.
“It is a good thing that Lagos State has good plans for us, and it is good that from the day of employment to retirement, there is no cause to regret.”
