In a strategic move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s rural economy, Lasaco Assurance Plc has pledged greater support for the agricultural sector through tailored insurance solutions.

This was revealed when the company’s leadership paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, to present initiatives designed to protect farmers from risks, boost productivity and promote long-term economic stability across rural communities.

The visit, led by the insurer’s Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Razzaq Abiodun, had key members of the firm’s executive team.

At the meeting, the insurer unveiled its Cooperative Insurance Scheme, which is tailored to provide robust risk protection, financial security and long-term sustainability for farmers and agricultural cooperatives across the country.

Abiodun noted that the initiative aligned with Lasaco’s broader mission of offering accessible, customer-focused insurance products that address the real challenges facing rural communities and stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.

“The agricultural sector remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy, and we believe insurance must play a vital role in safeguarding the livelihoods of farmers and enabling food security,” Abiodun said.

In response, Abdullahi welcomed the initiative and praised Lasaco’s effort to complement government strategies aimed at transforming agriculture, enhancing rural development, and building economic resilience.

He expressed optimism about the role of public-private partnerships in scaling sustainable agricultural practices and reducing vulnerabilities among farming communities.
