Elder Comr. Femi Ikugbayigbe has unequivocally declared that he is not a “money bags” aspirant in his bid for the chairmanship position, asserting that his extensive political, administrative, and social background will ultimately resonate with voters in the upcoming local government elections.
During an online media chat with journalists, Ikugbayigbe responded to a question about allegations of sponsorship by an America-based politician, stating that his own merits and credibility solely drive his campaign. He emphasized that no wealthy politicians are backing his aspiration, saying that, he received encouragement from his political leaders in light of his declared intention.
As a prominent aspirant, contesting for the Chairmanship position of Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area in the forthcoming Lagos State Local Government election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comr. Ikugbayigbe underscored the importance of integrity in leadership, noting that the Alimosho progressive party does not elect or appoint individuals based on wealth but rather on proven loyalty, commitment and dedication to the party over the years.
“My people, government at all levels has the primary purpose of promoting the well-being of the people living within its community, state, and nation. Those holding sovereignty must be reliable, accountable, trustworthy, and pursue justice, equity, and welfare for their subjects, devoid of greed and self-centeredness,” he articulated.
Ikugbayigbe pledged that should he be elected as the council Executive Chairman, he will govern according to these principles, prioritizing the collective welfare of the community over personal gain.
