In a significant move to enhance Nigeria’s social security infrastructure, the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has partnered with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to integrate employee data under the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS) with the National Identification Number (NIN) system.
Announced during a courtesy visit by NSITF’s Managing Director, Barrister Oluwaseun Faleye, to NIMC’s Director-General, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and the collaboration aims to streamline identity verification processes and ensure accurate data management for Nigerian workers.
“This collaboration will bring sanity to the identity management space. We must harmonize all data related to the ECS. No one should be registered under the scheme unless they are captured through NIN,” stated Faleye.
The integration is expected to improve NSITF’s efficiency by providing access to a reliable database, thereby broadening the scope of social security and enhancing service delivery.
Engr. Coker-Odusote expressed NIMC’s commitment to the initiative, assuring that their IT team would collaborate closely with NSITF’s technical department to facilitate seamless data integration. “We understand how critical this is for expanding access to services. This is what we do daily,” she affirmed.
The partnership underscores a strategic effort to leverage technology and data inclusion across sectors, aiming to provide more effective social protection for Nigerian employees.
