Nigeria’s Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said Ondo State among other three states in the federation have accounted for over 90 per cent of the country’s 739 reported cholera cases so far in this year as the national death toll rises to 141.
The NCDC, in its new epidemiological report released, identified further that, cross River, Kano, and Ondo as the epicenters of the outlook, with Bauchi alone accounting for a significant portion of the infections.
However, health authorities in the country are ramping up efforts to contain the spread, deploying rapid response teams, treatment kits, and clean waste supplies to affected communities.

According outbreak has been linked to poor sanitation, limited access to clean water, and the ongoing rainy season, which often exacerbates waterborne diseases. Public healths campaigns are are currently underway to educate residents on hygiene practices, while emergency medical units are being mobilized in high-risk areas.
