As political activities intensify ahead of the House of Representatives primary election in Oshodi Constituency 1, Hon. Taiwo Ayedun, popularly known as “Shanana,” is emerging as a prominent contender, drawing growing support from sections of the grassroots. Shanana’s rising profile is being amplified by the support group and the people of Oshodi. The Articulates, and other groups which, under its “Oshodi Decides” campaign, have endorsed his aspiration, describing him as a candidate with deep community roots and consistent engagement across the constituency.
According to the people, Ayedun’s accessibility and involvement in local development initiatives across the seven wards in Oshodi have helped build trust among residents, positioning him as a credible option in the race. People noted that, beyond political ambition, representation at the National Assembly requires a demonstrable understanding of legislative responsibilities, as well as a track record of accountability and service qualities, which Shanana has shown over time.
Shanana’s endorsement also comes amid broader conversations around leadership renewal and governance standards, with the people cautioning against attempts to extend political tenures in ways that could undermine democratic norms and public confidence. While other aspirants remain in contention, Ayedun’s supporters argue that his preparedness and familiarity with constituency needs give him an advantage in the evolving political landscape.
They further urged APC party voters in Oshodi Constituency 1 to prioritise the aspirant with proven commitment to community development, describing the forthcoming election as an opportunity to strengthen representation and drive sustainable progress if Shanana could be given full support.
With campaigns gradually taking shape, political observers say the contest is expected to be shaped by grassroots mobilisation, candidate credibility, and party dynamics as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the polls.
