United Nigeria Airlines is set to make its first foray into regional operations with the introduction of direct flights to Accra, Ghana, beginning November 10, 2025, marking a significant step in the airline’s growth beyond Nigeria’s borders.
In a statement, the airline’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mazi Osita Okonkwo, said the new route — operating from Lagos and Abuja to Kotoka International Airport, Accra — represents a major milestone in United Nigeria’s long-term expansion plan and its commitment to deepening regional connectivity within West Africa.“Ghana is an important part of our regional growth strategy, and this marks our first operation outside Nigeria. We are truly excited about the opportunity to connect more people and businesses across the sub-region,” Okonkwo said.
He explained that the airline’s entry into Ghana underscores its broader goal of promoting economic integration and cultural exchange across West Africa, while providing travellers with more convenient flight options.“Over the past four years, United Nigeria Airlines has earned a strong reputation for safety, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and on-time performance — values we are committed to upholding as we expand regionally and, eventually, internationally,” he added.
Okonkwo further noted that the new service will enhance both business and leisure travel between Nigeria and Ghana, two of West Africa’s largest economies, while reinforcing Nigeria’s presence in regional aviation.“With this launch, we are not only expanding travel options but also proudly flying the Nigerian flag across the sub-region. Our mission remains the same — to unite people, cultures, and aspirations through reliable and efficient air travel,” he stated.
Tickets for the Lagos–Accra–Lagos and Abuja–Accra–Abuja routes are now available via the airline’s official website and accredited travel agencies.
In addition to its regional debut, United Nigeria Airlines announced plans to expand its domestic network in November, with new routes including Abuja–Sokoto and other destinations under consideration.
A fast-growing Nigerian carrier, United Nigeria Airlines has positioned itself as a key player in the country’s aviation industry since commencing operations in 2021, and the new Accra route marks a pivotal step in its transformation into a West African regional airline.
