The Lagos State Government has commended eTranzact International for the second Food Connect Initiative, which provided food relief packs to 500 underprivileged women in the state.
The programme aims to combat the economic challenges exacerbated by recent global events, emphasising community solidarity and support.
Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Dada, who was represented by her ministry’s Director of Women Affairs, praised eTranzact’s commitment to empowering women, urging collective efforts to address systemic poverty and promote sustainable programs for financial independence.
She said, “This initiative represents a beacon of compassion and solidarity, aimed at uplifting those who need it most in our society-our underprivileged women. It is an undeniable fact that economic challenges have become more pronounced, especially in the wake of recent global events.
“Many families are struggling to put food on the table, and it is our duty as a community to come together and provide support to the most vulnerable among us. This initiative, which seeks to provide food relief packs to 500 underprivileged women in Lagos State, embodies the spirit of togetherness.”
Dada stated that the initiative showcases the power of collaboration among government, private organisations, and individuals in fostering a more equitable society.
She added “I commend eTranzact for their unwavering dedication and commitment to this cause, and for providing this platform to champion the needs of our women.
“Strong women are the backbone of our families and communities. They nurture, they inspire, and they lead in countless ways. However, when they struggle to meet basic needs, it affects not just them, but their entire families and the broader community.”
The commissioner urged people to remain steadfast in their pursuit of dreams and to maintain belief in their potential.
Speaking at the programme, eTranzact Managing Director, Niyi Toluwalope, stated that the company was making a significant impact by providing food relief to 500 underprivileged women in its host community, doubling its previous outreach.
Toluwalope stressed that the initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to empowerment through education, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
He said, “Today, we’re providing food relief to over 500 underprivileged women in our host community, demonstrating our commitment to empowering those who need it most.
“eTranzact Food Connect is a natural extension of our empowerment pillar, recognising the vital role women play in family and community development.
“I’m proud to announce that we’ve positively impacted many women through this initiative. Today, we’re doubling that impact!”
Speaking with our correspondent at the sideline of the event, the LASAA MD, Fatiu Akiolu, stated that LASAA has been doing something similar to the eTranzact initiative, noting that the agency had earlier distributed school bags to students across seven local government areas, aiming to support education and foster community ties.
Speaking on the etranzact initiative, he said, “In LASAA, we thought of innovative ideas to reach out to people. If we have every business coming together to give back to the community, it will make things easy. The government alone cannot do everything. So having companies like this to support the communities will be helpful.
