Nigeria’s push toward a digitally driven insurance marketplace gained fresh momentum as Linkage Assurance Plc unveiled a new mobile application designed to simplify policy purchase, verification, and management for millions of users nationwide.
The insurer said the innovation could significantly improve insurance penetration, strengthen regulatory compliance, and deepen and iOS platforms.
The app offers a one-stop interface for motorists to buy genuine insurance cover, renew policies, and access real-time customer support all through a smartphone.
Speaking on the new application, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Linkage Assurance Plc, Daniel Braie, described the launch as a defining milestone in the company’s long-term digital transformation agenda.
According to him, “Our goal is to make insurance simple, transparent, and accessible to everyone.” The app demonstrates our commitment to customer-centric innovation and to using technology to deepen insurance penetration across Nigeria.”
The app integrates secure payment systems, a digital policy management dashboard, automated certificate verification, and round-the-clock assistance features industry experts say are critical to combating fake insurance, improving claims handling, and reducing operational bottlenecks.
Although the current version focuses on motor insurance, the insurer noted that it is its plan to expand coverage to retail, corporate, and general insurance products in subsequent updates.
Industry analysts noted that the rollout signals a broader shift within the sector, as insurers adopt technology to meet the rising expectations of younger, tech-savvy consumers and align with the Federal Government’s financial inclusion targets.
With over 220 million mobile subscriptions in Nigeria, digital platforms are increasingly seen as the most viable gateway for expanding insurance access beyond major urban centers.
“The launch of the Linkage app reflects that the entire industry is moving towards convenience, transparency, and instant service delivery.”
A policyholder of the insurer who spoke on the new app said, “If widely adopted, tools like this can help boost penetration, strengthen the regulatory environment, and modernize how Nigerians interact with insurance.”
The company expressed optimism that the platform will not only improve convenience for existing customers but also attract first-time users who prefer mobile-enabled financial services.
