The Lagos State Government has announced that rehabilitation work on the Admiralty Way–Ajah Jubilee Bridge will be suspended from Wednesday, December 4, to ease traffic pressure and accommodate increased commuter movement during the festive season.
The temporary halt, according to the state’s Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, is part of a broader traffic-management strategy aimed at reducing congestion across the Lekki–Ajah corridor as year-end travel activities peak.
Officials said the suspension will allow for smoother vehicular flow on one of the state’s busiest routes, which has faced periodic gridlock since phased rehabilitation began earlier in the year.
The government noted that while significant progress has been made on structural strengthening, expansion joint replacement and surface repairs, pausing the project will ensure minimal disruption to residents, businesses and holiday travellers.
Work is expected to resume in January, with the state assuring that the remaining phases will be executed swiftly and with improved traffic coordination.
The Jubilee Bridge, a major link connecting Lekki to Ajah and serving thousands of daily commuters, has undergone routine maintenance to enhance safety and extend its lifespan amid rising vehicular pressure in the fast-growing corridor.
The state urged motorists to remain patient and comply with traffic officials as the festive movement intensifies.
