Ikeja Electric (IE) has announced a 25-day planned power interruption across parts of Lagos to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carry out critical maintenance work on its 132kV lines.

The scheduled outage, which will run from July 26 to August 19, 2025, is part of efforts to enhance service delivery and improve grid reliability within the Ikeja Electric network.

In a statement issued on Thursday, IE explained that the maintenance exercise involves replacing old circuit breakers and upgrading key components of the TCN infrastructure at the Ikeja West Transmission Station.

According to the power distribution company, the planned outage will affect power supply to customers in Alausa, Oregun, Ojodu, Magodo, Omole Phase I, parts of Ikeja GRA, and some parts of Ogba and Agege, among others.

IE noted that although the work is expected to last for 25 days, supply will not be disrupted for the entire duration. Rather, customers in affected areas will experience daily load shedding and reduced supply windows while the maintenance is ongoing.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely apologize to our esteemed customers,” the company said. “However, this maintenance is essential to ensure long-term efficiency and safety of power delivery within our network.”

Ikeja Electric advised customers to take necessary precautions, including the use of surge protectors and ensuring sensitive appliances are switched off during outages.

The company said it is working closely with TCN to ensure minimal disruption and a speedy completion of the work.
