FINANCIAL technology firm, Tally has unveiled its innovative mobile payment application, GetTally, which digitises debit cards into a Quick Response (QR) code in just one interface to boost digital payment services in Nigeria.

Speaking at the virtual launch, the Managing Director, Tally, Adetayo Oresanya, said the mobile payment solution enables customers to tokenize any bank cards, generate an equivalent QR code and use the cards in various merchants without physical dedicated point-of-sale terminals.

According to him, the application, which is on the Google Playstore, provides a smarter, faster, and more cost-effective way of making payments and tracking card-based transactions.

Oresanya said the app ensures security against loss of debit cards as well as accommodates all debit cards from different banks.

According to him, app is focused on improving financial inclusion, considering the limited access to innovative financial services that has been a major challenge in the digital banking space.

“With Tally, customers can track and manage their transactions directly from the app, giving them full control of their payments. They can also locate the thousands of merchants nationwide who can process their Tally QR codes, right from the app

“Tally is expected to offer much more including easy and free peer-to-peer payment, investment tools and access to low-cost financing based on card transaction history. The app connects cardholders to SMEs as merchants without POS devices can use Tally for a faster and smarter solution to their payment needs,” he explained.

Also speaking, the Founder of Tally, Wole Faroun, said the app is secured and has additional layers of encryption before any transaction happens.

He said there are areas of security embedded in the app that the users will have to surpass before gaining access, adding that this protects the account of the user.

On his part, the Group Head of e-business, Providus Bank, Elliott Sangoleye, lauded the app, saying that tokenising debit cards are part of CBN’s contactless policy solution.
