LG Electronics has unveiled a new range of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered consumer electronics and smart home appliances at the Africa Technology Expo (ATE) 2026, underscoring the growing role of intelligent technologies in accelerating Africa’s digital transformation and energy efficiency agenda.

The company, which participated as a supporting sponsor of the two-day technology event in Lagos, said its latest innovations are designed to enhance connectivity, sustainability and convenience for homes and businesses, while supporting the continent’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

The expo, themed “Strengthening Africa’s Enterprise Technology Ecosystem Through Collaboration and Innovation,” brought together technology firms, policymakers, entrepreneurs and industry leaders to explore opportunities for strengthening digital infrastructure, innovation and cross-border collaboration across Africa.

At the exhibition, LG showcased a portfolio of AI-enabled products, including its latest QNED television, MoodUP™ Refrigerator, WashTower™ laundry solution, ARTCOOL air conditioner, Air Tower and smart home appliances equipped with intelligent features aimed at improving energy efficiency and user experience.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director of LG Electronics West Africa, H.S. Ji, said the company remains committed to developing technologies that address consumers’ everyday needs while supporting Africa’s digital and economic transformation.

According to him, artificial intelligence is reshaping how consumers interact with home appliances and entertainment devices, making them more intuitive, energy-efficient and interconnected.

“Africa Technology Expo provides an important platform to engage with businesses, innovators and consumers shaping the future of technology on the continent. For us, innovation is not just about introducing new products but delivering practical solutions that improve everyday life,” he said.

Ji noted that LG would continue to invest in technologies that promote smart living, energy conservation and healthier indoor environments, adding that digital innovation remains central to the company’s long-term growth strategy in Africa.

Industry analysts said the growing adoption of AI-powered consumer electronics reflects increasing demand for connected devices capable of improving productivity, reducing energy consumption and enhancing user convenience.

They noted that as digital adoption accelerates across the continent, manufacturers are increasingly integrating AI capabilities into home appliances to meet changing consumer expectations and support sustainable living.

Organisers of the expo emphasised the importance of collaboration between governments, technology firms and private sector operators in unlocking Africa’s digital economy, noting that previous editions of the event generated business transactions worth about $192 million.

Visitors to the LG pavilion experienced live demonstrations of the company’s AI-powered ecosystem, which enables seamless integration of home appliances and entertainment devices to create a smarter and more connected living environment.

The company said its participation at the expo reflects its commitment to driving innovation that supports enterprise development, digital inclusion and sustainable economic growth across Africa.
