It’s unacceptable that some areas in Oshodi, despite being under the coverage of Ikeja Electric, are plagued by persistent power outages, especially at night. The heat and discomfort caused by these outages are taking a toll on the residents, who deserve better.

The situation is even more frustrating when considering that Ikeja Electric’s management seems unconcerned, and instead, focuses on disconnecting homes that can’t regularly pay their bills. This approach only exacerbates the suffering of the people.

It’s essential for Ikeja Electric to take responsibility for providing reliable power supply to all areas under their coverage, including Oshodi. The Nigerian government and regulatory bodies must also ensure that electricity distribution companies (DisCos) like Ikeja Electric are held accountable for their performance.

The lack of access to reliable electricity is a significant hindrance to economic development, public health, and overall well-being. It’s imperative that Nigeria’s leaders prioritize investments in the power sector to address these challenges and provide citizens with the basic services they deserve.

As I said, integrity is essential, and those in positions of power must be held accountable for their actions. The welfare of citizens should be the top priority, not just a means to accumulate wealth and power.
